Brunei Architecture in Sabah

Brunei Architecture in Sabah means buildings erected, owned, and used by Sabahan of Brunei Race*. Locations mostly in West region of Sabah along West Coastal line streching from Tip of Borneo to Sipitang. The concentration of pure Brunei Architecture can be found in Bongawan. A good example being show house for Brunei Architecture is the one built at Sabah State Museum in Kota Kinabalu. The original references still can be seen in viliges around Bongawan. Some of the houses still in use with a lot of modification to suit the trend and current materials available in market. But, sadly most of the old and original version are now left unoccupied and unrepaired.

LIFE as JAYCEES

LIFE as JAYCEES:
It was in 1990. During my first month employment with one of the Architectural Firm in Kota Kinabalu, I hardly know the concept of MEETING, especially when my boss told me to handle a project that require me to CHAIR meetings. I was questioning even more unfamiliar words such as AGENDA, NOTICE of MEETING, and details such as CALL TO ORDER, ADJOURNMENT, SECONDER, MOTION, etc. Not until I met JC Peter Moh, our beloved Past President, of whom he was also involved in the same project as the Quantity Surveyor. I raised my concern on my difficulties to understand the nature of MEETING to him over an afternoon tea at a coffee shop below my office. JC Peter is known to me as a very precise and wise person. He said “NO PROBLEM, just join Tanjung Aru Junior Chamber”. I did, I signed the form on the spot, and very few days later, with guidance from JC Peter Moh, I did learnt what I was looking for. In fact I learnt much more ever since than what I expected. Thank you JC Peter Moh, and thank you Tanjung Aru Junior Chamber, its really wonderful to be JAYCEES. Cheers from JC Zainal Abidin Awang Damit.
